Application software

Application software is a set of programs written in a programming language to solve the given problem. It is also called organic software. It is independent of the machine on which it is operated. It focuses on the application and not on the computer system.

Examples: Accounting software, Payroll system, Customer relationship management.

Application software can be classified into CAD software, business software, ERP software and so on depending on the area in which it is used.

Application software engineers used to develop a set of coherent and cohesive modules and then assemble them to produce a single application.
